Going ‘Green’ - Pepsico

National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS)

Pepsico’s wanted a new corporate booth for the NACS show that reflected their leadership in the industry, highlighting their wide range of products developed to meet all consumer needs–energy, nourishment, fun, and away from home convenience.

The booth needed to be modular and changeable to accommodate new product launches.  It also needed to draw in the crowd for product samplings.
Pepsico’s corporate commitment to sustainability also led to thinking ‘green’ when designing the new booth.

MSM’s Solution:  MSM designed a booth that showcased Pepsico’s leadership in the beverage industry, with a focus on the use of materials that supported the company’s commitment to social responsibility.  The exhibit was broken into four areas to showcase the brands that met the four needs of the consumer—‘Energy the Drives You,’ ‘Live Well Be Strong,’ ‘Escape to Enjoy,’ and ‘Home Away from Home.’

To allow for flexibility generic background graphics on the upper structures were printed on semi-transparent white scrims.  Three-dimensional, silhouette-cut product graphics hung in front of the scrim and were designed to be changed easily.

The many ‘green’ features of the new exhibit included:

  • A lightweight, recycled aluminum structure that helps reduce the use of fossil fuels in shipping
  • LED lighting was used to reduce electricity needs
  • Cloth, carpet, and padding made from recycled materials
  • Environmentally friendly ink for printing
  • Furniture made of bamboo, plywood made from renewable resources, and recycled plastic

Results:  The Pepsico message was well executed and the show was a success!
